Abstract:

 

The aim of this manual is to provide sufficient information and tools to humanitarian personnel so that they can design and implement effective livelihood programmes.  The following livelihood interventions are covered: Training and Placement Programs; Cash- and Food-for-Work; Building In-camp Economies; Agrarian Interventions; Microfinance; and Enterprise Development.  Tips on working with host governments, developing public-private partnerships and leveraging remittances are also provided.  Details on how to employ various corresponding tools and approaches follow the discussion on interventions.
