Abstract:

This handbook serves as UNHCR's principal reference tool for responding to refugee emergencies.  Chapters focus on emergency management, field operations, and operational support.  The table of contents provides a detailed breakdown of topics covered in each chapter to enable readers to quickly locate the information they need.  The appendices include 1) a "toolbox" that presents indicators, measurements and other useful information in table format for easy reference, 2) a brief glossary, and 3) an index.  The second edition of this handbook is available in French under the title Manuel des situations d'urgence
