Abstract:

The aim of this new publication is to assess the effectiveness of humanitarian aid in the context of the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) initiative. It examines the practice and policies of donor governments and provides data on humanitarian aid for 22 countries as well as the European Commission. The volume begins with a more thorough analysis of the Humanitarian Response Index, its methodology and rankings. Part two includes chapters that discuss various aspects of humanitarian response and good donorship. Part three provides crisis reports for selected countries and a summary of emergencies that occurred during the previous year. Donor profiles are included in Part four. A glossary is also provided. Past editions are provided online in full-text; selected content from the current edition is available.
