Abstract:
Country of origin information (COI) research is undertaken to assist in the assessment of, and to lend support to, the asylum application process. The text is divided into several training modules; these include an optional "refugee law and complementary protection" module, a basic module on the role and standards of country of origin information, three separate modules on relevance, reliability and balance, and accuracy and currency, and a final optional module on transparency. The Annex includes detailed descriptions of core sources. Also available in French, German, Romanian, Russian and Spanish.
