Abstract:

This literature review was undertaken to support a project that investigated the provision of pro bono legal services to unaccompanied minors in deportation proceedings. Discussion of the literature retrieved is organized under several themes: the migration of unaccompanied children to the U.S.; children's rights and the "best interests" principle; detention, release and repatriation; types of relief for unaccompanied minors; and legal representation.  Over 90 references are listed in the bibliography.
