Abstract:

The World Disasters Report examines trends relating to, highlights facts on, and provides analysis of disasters and humanitarian crises in the past year.  Each issue centers on a special theme (forgotten emergencies, access to information, community resilience, etc.), the various aspects of which are discussed and reported on in separate chapters.  Statistical data from the EM-DAT disaster database are featured in the Annexes.  Chapter summaries for issues published since 2000 are provided online by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).  As of the 2006 volume, summaries in Arabic, French and Spanish are also available via the respective language versions of the web site.  The 2007 report is the first edition provided online in full-text at the IFRC web site.
