Global Estimates [year]: People Displaced by Disasters. Geneva: Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, 2009-2015. Annual.

Abstract:

This annual report surveys the displacement caused by rapid-onset natural hazards such as climate- and weather-related events, as well as geo-physical events like earthquakes. It provides an analysis of overall patterns and trends, regional assessments, and displacement resulting from specific types of disasters. The report has undergone various name changes, as reflected below. The very first study of global disaster-induced displacement was undertaken by both IDMC and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance, and covered events in 2008. The next edition was published in 2011 and covered events in both 2009 and 2010. All reports are available on the IDMC web site, although not from one central point. Note: As of May 2016, the Global Estimates report was replaced by the Global Report on Internal Displacement [see separate entry].
