Abstract:

This report summarizes discussions that took place during the 10th meeting of the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM), held in Toronto in June 2006.  The rapporteur begins with an analysis of the term "dialogue," identifying four criteria which he then uses as a framework for discussing the papers presented at the conference.  The criteria include "spanning professional boundaries," "transcending geographic boundaries," "understanding the processes of dialogue," and "promoting dialogue within the academy."  The author concludes by highlighting issues dividing the forced migration community that remain to be addressed.
