Weaver, Heather and Bayard Roberts. 2010. "Drinking and Displacement: A Systematic Review of the Influence of Forced Displacement on Harmful Alcohol Use." Substance Use & Misuse 45 (13): 2340-2355.

Abstract:

The authors present findings of a systematic review undertaken to identify factors correlated with harmful alcohol use among displaced populations.  The 10 studies that met their inclusion criteria indicated a variety of risk factors.  Given the small number of studies identified, however, the authors' main conclusion is that the evidence base is extremely weak.  Both the quality and quantity of studies on this issue should be improved in order to "better understand the scale and nature of the problem and inform appropriate response strategies" (p. 2351).  Approximately 50 references are listed.
