Abstract:

This report surveys research relating to education in crisis situations in order to serve as a reference document to program officers, policy makers, donors, and academics.  The review begins with definitions and an overview of the issues and relevant actors.  The next section examines sample approaches to providing education in crisis situations.  The author then summarizes some of the ongoing debates that represent areas for further research.  The list of approximately 120 references is provided in Appendix B.
