Abstract:

To what extent can women seek and be granted asylum in the United States because of their gender?  This annotated bibliography highlights 88 law review articles that examine gender-based persecution as a basis for an asylum claim.  Articles that consider the issue generally are listed first, followed by references organized by specific gender grounds: domestic violence, female genital mutilation, rape, sexual slavery, and forced sterilization.
