Cotter, Gertrude. 2004. A Guide to Published Research on Refugees, Asylum-Seekers and Immigrants in Ireland. Dublin: Integrating Ireland.

Abstract:

This guide presents a profile of research that has been conducted on refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants in Ireland.  The author undertook online and library searches and distributed a questionnaire to relevant individuals and organizations around the country in an attempt to comprehensively identify key research areas and gaps.  Most of the research described in the guide was generated within the preceding five years.  The guide begins with general observations about the status of research in Ireland, including who is conducting it, what is being studied, sources of funding, gaps in research, and barriers to research.  The next section identifies 31 themes that encapsulate the retrieved research.  For each theme, the author provides an overview of the main issues examined (citing studies listed in the bibliography), lists gaps, and recommends areas for future study.  The actual bibliography begins in section five on page 67 (although note that pages are not formally numbered).  The references are organized alphabetically by author; most of the 281 entries are annotated.  Section six lists masters/PhD theses by university.  Forthcoming research was also identified and is listed in section seven.
