This document revises and updates the 2006 IASC Operational Guidelines on Human Rights and Natural Disasters.  Part I introduces the concept of a human rights-based approach towards the protection of people during natural disasters.  Part II discusses the guidelines by thematic grouping, i.e., protection of life, protection of rights related to food, health, etc., protection of rights related to housing and livelihoods, protection of rights related to freedom of movement, religion, etc.  A glossary is included in the annex.  The Guidelines are also available in other languages, including French, Hindi, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
