Abstract:
Sweden has experienced a rise among asylum-seeking children of Depressive Devitalization and Pervasive Refusal Syndrome. Both involve a social withdrawal and loss of bodily function in key areas. The aim of this review is to identify the causes of these syndromes, compare and contrast the two syndromes, and explore diagnoses and treatment. The authors describe their search methods. Eight studies were retrieved. The following elements are described in the results section: country of origin, aetiological factors, symptoms. The authors continue with a discussion of their findings.
