Abstract:

This paper reviews literature from the refugee studies and social work fields that focuses on unaccompanied young people who seek asylum in the United Kingdom.  It finds that while unaccompanied minors undergo a series of stressors, they are also resilient and resourceful in their new environments.  The authors provide examples of real-life experiences drawn from the work of a young asylum seekers project (YAS) in England.  Approximately 55 references are included.
