Abstract:

 

This report reviews recent research undertaken on refugee and asylum issues in Scotland.  It begins with an overview of the European context.  The next section examines issues that have arisen the UK context.  Section 4 focuses particularly on Scottish research.  The next section looks at the voluntary sector, rights-based approaches, and access to social services.  Section 6 reviews attitudes towards asylum seekers and refugees.  The report ends with an analysis of gaps in the literature.  Almost 100 references are included.  Note: An update was provided as a separate publication in 2011; see below.
