Abstract:

Report of the 1994 International Research and Advisory Panel (IRAP) meeting held in Oxford.  The keynote addresses presented perspectives on the current status of refugee studies as a field of inquiry, while the plenary sessions discussed new directions for research in forced migration.  Participants helped to define a research agenda for refugee studies through the presentation of state of the art reviews and reports on research in progress.  The author provides a summary of many of the meeting's presentations and discussions, and concludes with his views of the predominant concerns and accomplishments.
