Geneva: United Nations.

Abstract:

A brief listing of basic definitions included as Annex 1 of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction publication entitled Living with Risk: A Global Review of Disaster Reduction Initiatives.  Because the aim of this glossary is to promote greater understanding of this issue among members of the public, government officials, and practitioners, the definitions presented here are less technical than those found in other glossaries.  Also available in Spanish.  Note: A revised and updated list of terms was issued January 2009; see separate entry.
