Bibliographic information:

Refugee Council of Australia.  2010.  Economic, Civic and Social Contributions of Refugees and Humanitarian Entrants: A Literature Review.  Canberra: Commonwealth of Australia.

Abstract:

The aim of this literature review was to locate both national and international sources that discuss the impact resettled refugees have had on the nation's social, cultural and economic life.  Information gaps were also identified.  Six sections focus on the following: "Benefits of Australia's Refugee and Humanitarian Program"; "Skill Shortages and Opportunities for Humanitarian Entrants"; "Educational and Labour Force Outcomes of the Second Generation"; "Overcoming Barriers to Economic Progress"; "International Comparisons of Labour Force Outcomes"; and "Voluntary Work among Refugee Communities."  The annotated bibliography includes over 70 references.
