Cohen, Robin, ed. 1995. The Cambridge Survey of World Migration. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press.

Abstract:

This volume provides an overview of the key migration processes and patterns that occurred between the 16th and 20th centuries.  Written by scholars from around the world, the 95 contributions survey major regional population flows, refugee crises, and illegal migration.  For the most part, they are organized regionally and by historical period, in 15 sections.  Part 13 focuses on "refugees from political conflict."  Averaging around five pages in length, each essay includes a bibliography, and often tables, figures, photos and maps.  This encyclopedic survey has been described variously as a "valuable compendium" and a "useful first source" for both students and professionals.
