Abstract:

The fifth International Research and Advisory Panel meeting was the first to be organized by the newly-formed International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) and the first to be held outside of Oxford, England.  The conference took place in Kenya and, unlike previous meetings, focused more particularly on research in progress rather than the status of forced migration studies.  This report discusses the main themes of the conference, provides an overview of the proceedings, and summarizes presentations.  It ends with an analysis of how forced migration as a field of study has evolved and some of its ongoing challenges.
