Abstract:

 

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of the refugee camp experience on families. The author discusses the sense of loss felt by refugee families, the social organization of the camp, the disintegration of the family unit, changes in gender roles, children's responses, and external factors that affect family dynamics.  She concludes with suggestions for future research.  A description of the search methodology employed is not provided.  Approximately 50 references are listed.
