Bibliographic information:
Gibney, Matthew J., and Randall Hansen, eds. 2005. Immigration and Asylum: From 1900 to the Present. 3 vols. Santa Barbara, CA: ABC-CLIO.
Abstract:
This encyclopedia approaches immigration and asylum issues from an historical and political perspective. Entries were selected on the basis of the following themes: asylum law and procedures; immigration policy; refugee countries of origin; major migrant groups; historical movements; and the politics of migration focusing particularly on the U.S. The almost 200 essays are accompanied by "see also" references and bibliographies. The third volume reproduces major international and regional instruments, UN resolutions, and national legislation. These are followed by an extensive index. Immigration and Asylum was selected as an "outstanding reference source" by the American Library Association's Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) in 2006.
