Abstract:

The International Organization for Migration prepared this handbook in order to share its experience with and successful strategies for providing assistance to trafficked persons.  The principal aim of the book is to help non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are in the process of establishing programmes to work with victims of trafficking.  Chapters cover security and personal safety; screening of trafficking victims; referral and reintegration; shelter; health issues; and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.  The appendices include ethical guidelines for caring for and interviewing trafficked persons, an interview checklist and a 10-page glossary.
