Abstract:
Prepared as part of a working paper series that "reviews the range of ways in which livelihoods approaches are currently used by operational agencies and researchers working in situations of chronic conflict and political instability (SCCPI)." The term "livelihoods" refers to the means and resources people draw on to support particular goals, such as survival and well-being. In turn, successful livelihood strategies help reduce the sense of vulnerability that can arise during situations of conflict. Annotated references to discussion papers, books, journal articles, and research reports are organized as follows: Frameworks for Analysis and Key Concepts; Impact of Conflict on Livelihood Strategies and Resources; Forced Migration, Displacement and Livelihoods; Policy and Institutional Approaches to Protect and Support Livelihoods in Times of Conflict; and Programme Interventions to Protect and Support Livelihoods in Times of Conflict.
