This review surveys the literature that discusses the health problems and social challenges confronting three population groups: internally displaced persons, refugees in asylum and refugees in resettlement.  The author considers medical problems, health care provision, coping mechanisms, resilience, and the problems associated with undertaking research on these various groups.  Ninety-seven references are listed.
