Abstract:

The aim of this volume is to highlight the anthropological and sociological research that has been undertaken at the World Bank to address development issues.  All materials selected were authored by World Bank researchers or consultants and published between 1975 and 1993.  Part three focuses on the involuntary resettlement of people that results from large-scale development projects.  The authors describe 41 studies, most of which date from the late 1980s and early 1990s.
