Abstract:

This report provides summaries of 28 papers presented at the "Researching internal displacement: state of the art" conference, which was held in Trondheim, Norway in February 2003.  The aim of the conference was to address questions about the nature of research on internally displaced persons (IDPs) and how it can better influence policy solutions for and humanitarian response to internal displacement situations.  The report succinctly reviews the lessons learned by scholars in this area (each summary is one to three pages long), and provides a useful overview of the current status of IDP research.
