Abstract:

 

Literature review undertaken as part of a larger research project entitled “Integration of Refugee Women in Europe through the Promotion of their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.”  The first chapter provides definitions and the rationale for the study.  Chapter two discusses the legal human rights framework for sexual and reproductive health rights.  The third chapter reviews relevant European Union policies.  Chapter four examines a number of the key issues that fall under the rubric of sexual and reproductive health, including safe motherhood, family planning, sexually transmitted diseases, and gender-based violence.  The final chapter offers recommendations.  The authors provide a general description of their methodology for compiling literature references.  Approximately 140 references are listed in the bibliography.  A brief glossary is also included.
