Muggah, Robert. 2003. "A Tale of Two Solitudes: Comparing Conflict and Development-induced Internal Displacement and Involuntary Resettlement." International Migration 41 (5):5-31.

Abstract:

Although the author of this article does not characterize his study as a literature review, he does draw "on a vast and rapidly growing literature" (p. 5) in order to discuss the "complex, if understudied area of...resettlement of the internally displaced" (p. 6).  He begins by considering the definitional issues that invariably arise in any discussion of displacement.  Next, he reviews the treatment of involuntary resettlement in the scholarly literature.  In the final section, the author compares and contrasts conflict-induced internal displacement with development-induced internal displacement.  Over 120 references are listed.
